The park is known for its unique system of lakes and waterfalls, which have been formed over thousands of years by the deposition of travertine barriers. The lakes are divided into two groups &#8211; the Upper Lakes and the Lower Lakes &#8211; and are connected by a series of waterfalls and cascades.
